Jim Falvey is an attorney with a focus in commodities, derivatives, securities, fintech/regtech, and intellectual property (often associated with financial markets). Jim is general counsel of EverMarkets or “EMX,” a crypto derivatives exchange. He is also co-founder and general counsel for Intellectual Property Coin Group (IPCG).

Over the past five years, Jim has been very active in work on cryptocurrencies, Initial Coin
Offerings, and blockchain projects/businesses. He has spoken at numerous conferences, participated as a guest on the world’s largest public radio station (based in the U.K.), written several articles, and has been quoted in various media on the “crypto-world.”

In 2008, Falvey was general counsel for Ocean Tomo. He also served general counsel at the Intercontinental Exchange (which currently owns the New York Stock Exchange), EurexUS, RJ O’Brien and Green Key Technologies; and he was chief administrative officer for the U.S. Futures Exchange.

Falvey has taught courses on derivatives and fintech at the Chicago Kent School of Law and a commodity market course at Penn State University. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA/Government; Georgetown University Law Center with a JD; and Northwestern/Kellogg School of Management with an MBA.
